about

Howling at the Moon is a song from a very dark unstable period of my life, rife with longing, heartache, toxic relationship patterns, suicidal ideation, and a long lost phantom of unrequited love. It feels funny to release it now at a moment in my life when I have finally found a very stable healthy partnership, the very thing I am fundamentally longing for in this song. I still reflect on this song and see myself in it, almost as a warning of what I could easily slip back into if I don't hold to the lessons I've been taught in recent years. I am grateful to have moved through the grief that this song holds. I needed that hardship to honor and value the fortune the future did indeed bestow.

LYRICS

I missed my chance, if I ever had one
We used to dance and it felt like the sun
Is it too late or is it too soon?
I'm left here howling at the moon

Shadows beckon, approaching death
Yet still I take another breath
Dreams foretold a future fortune
Tortured in the present moment

Scattered on the floor like pickup sticks
Sort thyself, alone to fix
The mess I've made of my own mind
A different path alone to find

I could not meet your loves desire
A wretched shame, a burning fire
I want what cannot be foretold
The maze to end, the walls to fold
The maze to end, the walls to fold

I missed my chance, if I ever had one
We used to dance and it felt like the sun
Is it too late or is it too soon?
I'm left here howling at the moon
